The Timex Automatic is quite the watch. It's my sixth Timex and by far my favorite. It's sleek, sturdy, and honestly looks like a $300+ watch. The perpetual motion makes the second hand move smoothly around the face of the watch - very attractive. I've always had problems with unintentionally knocking the crown out of the locked position on other watches, causing time to stop. But with the Automatic, the crown is designed to screw down after setting the time and date. I've only had the watch for two days, but the power reserve hasn't moved from the "high" position yet. It's a really nice looking watch - Great purchase!!

I think Timex had some build quality problems in their first few (thousand?) units. I went through three of these in as many days before I got one that works: the first one would randomly stop, even though the power reserve meter said there was plenty of power in the spring. The second had problems with the crown and being able to set the date...

br /My third one is about a year old now and running strong. I haven't been particularly careful with this watch, and as such have hit the crystal against all sort of things: walls, computers, shopping carts, ... and it still looks good. If you listen closely, you can hear the mechanism ticking, even at arms' length. The manual wind feature is nice: much faster than waving the watch around to wind it. The clear back offers a nice view on the movement, though there's not all that much to see.

br /I don't really like the magnified date - poor viewing angle and the font is a bit confusing, but the rest of the face is nice. The lack of illumination is slightly disappointing, though I'm not sure how to illuminate the face without messing up the design... but I'm a critic, so I'm allow to complain.

br /With regard to accuracy, I've found my particular watch to be about 1.0s/hr fast - not an officially certified chronometer by any stretch of the imagination. Typically I'll wear my watch about 15hr/day. I measured 3 times a day (0000h, 0800h, 1600h) for 10 days and found that it would run as little as 0.7s/hr fast at night and as much as 1.3s/hr fast during the day, so the mechanism is definitely sensitive to temperature and motion.

This watch has some of the same features of much more expensive Swiss watches at about 1/100th the price. If you have millions and can afford a Patek Philippe watch, you may want to go ahead and spend between $10,000 and $40,000 on a Patek. But if you'd enjoy owning an automatic watch, with clear case back and a power reserve hand for well under $500, you've got to look into this Timex.

br /The watch feels good on my wrist too. Better than maybe any watch I've owned (including two Rolex watches), I can't explain this "feel", I guess it's something to do with fit (which is mostly luck, since none are continuously adjustable (only discretely) , weight distribution, how little it grabs hair,...

br /The only downside I can see it the use of mineral crystals. If Timex used Sapphire crystals...well that'd double the price I suppose, but to me it'd be worth it.

This is a very nice watch and a great value. The dark face on the watch can be hard to read at times. But the automatic no wind no battery is a great thing. I would always wear a watch till the battery goes then get a new watch.It is a great looking watch if you are dressed up or not.

Great watch, I really love it. There is only one problem. There is a little bubble magnifier in the lens of the watch that sticks out a little less than an eighth of an inch. I were this watch every day almost for about a month and the little magnifier bubble is a little scratched but it prevents scratches on the rest of the face so what are you going to do. Also in the instruction it said that the watch links have little tiny screws. not true. they are pins that you need to tap out with a tiny rod and a hammer to adjust the band.

I got this watch not long ago and it already seems to be an incredible watch. I've been wanting this watch for a while, but the price kept me away. But seeing it here for this price, I couldn't pass it up.

br /Was a little big, so I had to remove one link, which wasn't a problem. It has a very nice feel to it, considering I like heavy watches. I still like my leather watches, so I'm getting the matching leather one soon.

br /I would recommend this watch to anyone. This seem to be a great watch and the price for this type of watch put a smile on my face.
