Description:

Cutting-edge style meets cutting-edge timepiece technology with the silver-tone Citizen Stiletto Eco-Drive stainless steel men's watch, which offers a sleek, refined style that will add a lustrous complement to any ensemble. Simplicity defined, it features a large-sized watch case that's topped by a thin, slightly raised bezel. It frames a white dial face with thin black stick markers and baton hands (without seconds hand). It's completed by a supple black leather strap with a distressed texture and tonal stitching. Other features include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--suitable for water-related activities and sports such as swimming and snorkeling. p This watch is powered by Citizen's unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use. This watch's Eco-Drive provides a 180-day power reserve. p bEco-Drive Frequently Asked Questions/bbr iHow can you tell if the Eco-Drive watch is getting enough light?/i In normal use, the watch displays the time and the sweep-second hand moves in one second intervals. A very important feature of Eco-Drive is the Low Charge Warning Mode which as a result of low battery voltage, causes the second hand to jump two seconds at a time (while still keeping correct time). p iHow long will an Eco-Drive watch run after it is fully charged?/ibrIf your watch is put away where no light is available to it while in a fully charged state, depending on the model, it will run for from 45 days to 5 years. p iHow can the Eco-Drive watch be recharged?/ibr Besides sunlight, it can be safely charged by exposing it to a fluorescent desk lamp, with the dial (face) up and within about 8 inches or an incandescent lamp (regular light bulb) no closer than 20 inches. Never use a halogen lamp since the heat generated by it can cause damage to your watch. The most efficient and the quickest is in direct bright sunlight (not windowsill) and never on the dashboard of a car. p bAbout Citizen/bbr One of the world's largest watch makers, the Citizen Watch Company was founded in 1924 in Japan from its beginnings as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute. The first watch released by the company was named "CITIZEN" and its name was selected so that it would be "close to the hearts of people everywhere." Today, Citizen is recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced timepiece technology, from the world's slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch to the world's first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen was also the first to sell watches made with titanium in the world, which is not only light and durable but also non-allergenic (as stainless steel can be to some wearers). Most recently, Citizen has released watches powered by its Eco-Drive, which runs continuously in any kind of natural light or artificial light for a lifetime of use without changing a battery.

I am somewhat of watch collector, and have everything from Rolex Seadweller and Datejust to Baume Mercier and 1930's Bulova wristwatches. This Citizen was definitely a pleasant surprise. Te design is classic in the best sense of the word - classical, elagant and timeless. The patern dial is something which you can not see in the photo of the watch, but it adds immensely to its appearance. The Citizen is actually thinner (!) than the ultra thin Jaeger Le Coultre (which will set you back about $5000 in its most basic incarnation) yet it gives nothing to the JLC in design and execution. Add to this the solar eco-drive and the price and you have one outstanding watch. Sappire crystal and water resistance are wecome bonuses. The only gripe I have is the band, it could have beeen better, the watch is so elegant it draws attention to the band, which simply is not in the same league. But that is a small flaw and one that is easily fixed. If you are looking for a watch with clean, timeless design, worry-free operation (no battery to change), flawless looks, and a great price (Amazon had the best price on the Web) your watch is here.

I was looking for a classic dress watch. This is it. Extremely thin, leather band, no dials, not even a date window. And it is powered by light! Perfect!

br /I understand that Citizen is discontinuing this type of watch. What a shame. Maybe they will come out with another series like it in the future.

Really nice!

I spent quite a while looking for a "perfect watch" and this is the closest I could come up with. I don't like watches with the look, feature set and bulk of a nuclear submarine which seem so popular nowadays. This Citizen combines a no-frills, simple and elegant look with good build quality and materials. The eco-friendliness is a bonus. This is my favorite watch at the moment.

br /So why only four stars? First, as the other reviewer pointed out the band feels a bit cheap; The texturing on the leather looks "fake". I'd rather have just a plain untextured leather band. Second, the watch is not waterproof as advertised. The manual that comes with the watch states it's only resistant for rain, minor splashes when washing your face etc. Not that I'd go swimming with a dress watch, but it should be stated up front. Third, and this is a nitpick, it's hard to tell if the watch is running normally or in low power mode. It requires watching for microscopic movements of the minute hand over a period of time. Hopefully it'll get enough light in normal use that I won't have to worry about it.

There is nothing more annoying on Amazon than sellers who have a good price, then cancel your order because they do not have the product in stock. This seller of course doesn't cancel right away, but waits several days. Take your business to a seller that has a watch to sell.
