This is a great watch. Casio has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. The only flaw with the Mudman is the negative display. It's a bit hard to see the digits. That is the only problem that I have with the Mudman. Besides that, it's built like a freaking tank.

My last G-Shock stood up to eight years of military service, diving, deployments, and college life. I attempted to change the battery myself, but did not replace the seal effectively, thereby allowing water to enter the electric portion and ruining it. My fault. Replaced it with this watch, and the tough tradition continues. This watch has a lot of functionality, more than previous G-Shocks.

br /If you need a watch to survive almost any condition, this would be the one. Looks good with ACUs and BDUs as well.

This is a great watch! This watch is built for abuse and use. It is light weight. The push buttons get easier to use but remain stiff. This stiffness is essential to remain mud and dust proof. If you are looking for a watch to be a watch and not a barometer, thermometer, or altimeter then this is your product. The type face is easy to read and lights up well at night. This is my first Casio watch and I considered it after purchasing the Casio G'zOne Type-S.

This is a really nice watch with alot of features. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the display is hard to read unless you have direct sunlight or you push the light button. I like the negative display look but it can be hard to see sometimes. Other than that this watch can really take a beating!!

The buttons are a little difficult to press, but that is probably critical to keeping the dirt and mud out of the watch. It's also very waterproof. Overall a great, easy to use, tough watch.

I am very happy with this watch, it has many of the features I like in a watch. I have always liked Casio watches and this one did not disappoint.

Nice watch, A little hard to read sometimes due to the reverse display but that is part of the "cool" factor of the watch. I modified my watch so it is now all black instead of army green.

This watch color is military olive green. The picture portrays a darker, almost hunter green. I wear this watch to work, where it is exposed to the weather and hazardous waste. The buttons are tight on the watch, which makes it perfect for keeping the environment out. The caseback is impressive with 4 screws securing the air tight stainless steel cover. The watch fits very comfortable on my 8 inch wrist. If you need a sealed watch and one that will last, buy this one!

br /I give function a 4 because of the illumination system. The watch was advertised having afterglow, which I thought it meant when the backlight goes out, the display would still glow for a little bit. This is not the case and I still don't understand what "Afterglow" is. Because of this it makes the watch difficult to operate in the dark. If you are in complete darkness and the snooze alarm starts to go off, you can not use the watches illumination system to navigate through the menus to turn the alarm off.

br /Other than that, the thing is a tank. I have no trouble reading the display in normal lighting conditions. Navigating through menus and setting up the watch is pretty user friendly.

This is my 5th Casio purchase and my 4th G-Shock purchase.

br /I bought this watch as a gift for my son, who is very pleased with it.
br /My first was a DW-5000, purchase in May 1984 is still going strong. I have also purchased a G-2000 for my daughter, and a DW-5600, while I was awaiting parts for the original watch.

br /I have only 2 reservations about the product -

br /- Casio seems to be moving away from watches with the screw-in back in favour of the cheaper approach using 4 small screws. I don't care for those watches and will not purchase them for myself.

br /- I share the concern of other reviewers about the stiffness of the buttons on the right side of the watch.

br /That aside, I paid somewhat more than I would otherwise have, because amazon did not have the product in stock just before Christmas. It was purchased through amazon from watchzone. Their price was nonetheless far better than the other dealers' prices. I am very pleased with the promptness of their delivery, exactly on schedule, and would be more than willing to buy from them again, if the price is right.

This is a tough looking watch that stands up to the abuse that i put it through on a nightly basis. I work in an emergency room and was looking for a watch that could display 24 hour time, handle getting banged around, and would stand up to millions of hand washings. So far I have been completely satisfied!

This watch is indestructible and reliable. I am really rough on my watches and this watch can take a beating!

I am in the police academy and neded I rugged watch. This one was by far the best one I could find. Its durable, looks sharp, and has great practical features. The only down side was I thought it was black, not green.

For the money I dont think you can find a tougher better made watch that will hold up and last like the Mudman. It is not a fashion statement, it is ment for the down and dirty! Functions like you would expect a G Shock to function....Awesome!

This watch has a very rugged look and feel, but sports many of the options of a more expensive watch. The watch took a little getting used to, because of its size (I previously wore thin dress watches); and there are some features that I have no need for, like the dual stopwatches, the timer, or the world time. The best part of having this watch, however, is not needing to worry about it getting wet or broken. I've accidentally subjected it to high water pressure and had several other mishaps, but it still looks ( works) like new.

Love this watch. Great functionality and better band attachment than other G-Shock configurations. Thumbs all the way up.

This is one tough watch. Protected well from the elements. The white numbers on the black background are bit small for me as my eyes are not what they used to be but overall this is as usual a Casio with plenty of features and added protection from the elements. Love it. It could be one of the toughest watches and I understand that it has been flight certified by NASA. Do a google search and you will find those Casio watches that are flight certified with includes the G9000.

Does what a watch should do. Took a second to figure out how to set the time zones, otherwise no complaints.

Had a G Shock years ago and the thing lasted forever. It was destroyed in a house fire unfortunately. I use my cell phone as a watch, but I,m deploying to Iraq and won't have a cell. I got this watch and its perfect...the pictures show it as a different green. Its actually an olive drab army green color...perfect. I recommend this watch to anyone in the military or civilians also.

This watch is great. Perfect size for me. Its great not having to worry about protecting my watch the whole time I'm wearing it. Its nice looking too.

I like this watch a lot. It is great to put on while playing sports. I bought it to try and keep my nice watch clean for as long as possible. Now I have a cheap, rugged alternative. My only problem has been trying to remember how to use the 300 functions that this watch has. Not a big deal I'll pick them up little by little.

I have been a g-shock user for about 20 years. This is the FIRST ONE that was a complete disappointment. Where did they ever come up with the "negative display?" It is nest to IMPOSSIBLE to even SEE the digits. Buy heck, I can get used to anything, EXCEPT that the battery did not even last six months.

I bought this watch for my boyfriend in Iraq so before it went to him it came to me since most places don't ship to APO. Well I took it out to look at it and found that the numbers were extremely difficult to read unless you pushed the light button and when I did that I discovered that the buttons are very hard to push. I'm not entirely happy with the watch. My boyfriend does not wear it and has since gotten his old watch fixed. It is a nice looking watch and will probably take a heck of a beating but turned out to be not worth it.
