Description:
Set sail for adventure with the Citizen Stars and Stripes Titanium men's analog/digital watch, the official watch of the America's Cup Stars and Stripes sailing team. Both the watch case and bracelet band are made from solid titanium, which is nearly 50 percent lighter than steel, but 30 percent stronger. It's also particularly resistant to salt water corrosion, as well as hypo-allergenic--perfect for those with metal allergies. And thanks to the solar-powered Eco-Drive, it will never need a battery change. p The large, silver-tone watch measures approximately 1.8 inches wide and is topped by a rotating 360-degree bezel. Timing features include a yacht racing timer, time and calendar in twenty-two time zones, thirty cities, two world time alarms, a 99-minute countdown timer, one-touch interchangeable analog/digital time, and 1/100-second chronograph that measures up to 24 hours. The black face includes three subdials (24-hour, mode hand, and race timer/minute register) and large luminous hands. The band is joined by a push-button safety clasp. Other features include water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet) and a scratch-resistant, non-reflective mineral crystal. p This watch is powered by Citizen's unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use. This watch's Eco-Drive provides a 90-day power reserve (4 years with Power Save feature), and it can be recharged with just 2.5 hours of exposure to light. p bEco-Drive Frequently Asked Questions/bbr iHow can you tell if the Eco-Drive watch is getting enough light?/i In normal use, the watch displays the time and the sweep-second hand moves in one second intervals. A very important feature of Eco-Drive is the Low Charge Warning Mode which as a result of low battery voltage, causes the second hand to jump two seconds at a time (while still keeping correct time). p iHow long will an Eco-Drive watch run after it is fully charged?/ibrIf your watch is put away where no light is available to it while in a fully charged state, depending on the model, it will run for from 45 days to 5 years. p iHow can the Eco-Drive watch be recharged?/ibr Besides sunlight, it can be safely charged by exposing it to a fluorescent desk lamp, with the dial (face) up and within about 8 inches or an incandescent lamp (regular light bulb) no closer than 20 inches. Never use a halogen lamp since the heat generated by it can cause damage to your watch. The most efficient and the quickest is in direct bright sunlight (not windowsill) and never on the dashboard of a car. p bWarranty/bbr It's backed by Citizen's 5-year warranty (from original date of purchase). p bAbout Citizen/bbr One of the world's largest watch makers, the Citizen Watch Company was founded in 1924 in Japan from its beginnings as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute. The first watch released by the company was named "CITIZEN" and its name was selected so that it would be "close to the hearts of people everywhere." Today, Citizen is recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced timepiece technology, from the world's slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch to the world's first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen was also the first to sell watches made with titanium in the world, which is not only light and durable but also non-allergenic (as stainless steel can be to some wearers). Most recently, Citizen has released watches powered by its Eco-Drive, which runs continuously in any kind of natural light or artificial light for a lifetime of use without changing a battery.

It's a nice watch, especially for the price. I've gotten a lot of compliments about the watch and overall I really like it.

br /What I don't like about it: the digital shut down in low light conditions, the hands only glow for about 30 minutes, the buttons get pushed by my wrist when bent and always find myself having to go back to the right time zone, and the instructions don't explain how to use extra functions like the compass and sailing features.

br /But, if you're looking for a good looking quality watch at a good price, and don't want to mess with batteries this is the one to get.

This is the best quality and "classiest" watch most men will ever own. My JR4010-51L is going into its second year of relatively rough service. It's "quet class" good looks are vastly enhanced with flawless function. Precise timekeeping, perpetually self-recharching battery, headturning good looks and 22 timezone settings just begin to highlight this chronograph's stellar features. Several minor "downside" quirks are far outweighed by the owerwhelmingly great design. In case you love to dwell on the "negatives," these are the quirks: Titanium wristband construction is limited in strength to the holding ability of steel, spring-loaded bars that connect the wristband to the watch. These fastening bars are still plenty strong. I just wonder why build something with titanium and then limit its strength? The Stars Stripes theme is slightly outdated, from 2005 and the pushbutton setting controls sometimes switch to a different time zone inadvertently. Finally, the baby-boomer "neuvo geezers" among us will need magnifying reading glasses to see some of the tiny print, that needs to be read to utilize some of the more obscure features. This is one "helluva good watch" at any price!

I have a lower cost version of this watch. Mine has the same analog features but without the additional LCD readouts that this watch has. The solar feature is really great. Other battery operated watches have always been a bother because the batteries fail regularly. The Eco Drive gives warning of an impending battery failure. It has a claimed ten year battery life. Mine has been going for five years now. I don't even have to mention time-keeping. It keeps time dependably. My only reservation is that the small dials on the face are somewhat difficult to read. This is a function of my failing eyesight as the dials "pop" into focus with reading glasses.

This is a perfect watch and it came in that condition, box and all. Was a day late because of snow fall but worth the wait.

I researched this watch quite a bit before I purchased it on Amazon and I was not dissapointed when it arrived. It looks great (I like the little bits of color it has; it's not your usual plain silver watch) and it has many functions which I will use over time, although not day to day. The only thing more I wish it had would be a backlight, but other than that, it's perfect for me. I would highly recommend this watch, assuming it suits your style and you like the way it looks.

Wonderfully beautiful watch, but it is so complicated that without the manual you're lost.
