This watch is excellent. Comfortable to wear, easy to read in the light or the dark, and this one is very accurate! It gains about 2 seconds a month. Seiko paid attention to the details. If you're looking for a Railroad Approved watch, this one is hard to beat.

This is my forth or fifth Sekio watch and each one had a reason I got it. My normal day in and day out watch was a SNA-411 flight watch. It works great just a bit on the heavy side. With age my eye would like to see a white background. My new job has me outside a lot and needing a very accurate timepiece. The SNA-411 worked fine just a bit bulky. I have always like a very simple watch with high accuracy and the SGG-531 seem to have it. In the first few weeks it had about a 2 second loss. In the past month it has shown a loss of less than 2 second total checked against NBS each day when I got to work. It is easy to read, light in weight and to me at least looks good. It's day starts just after my morning shower and ends just before I go to bed. It's day may run from +120 degrees to below 30 degrees. I still have the SNA-411 and wear it for flight ops but my new best friend is the SGG-531--hands down. I might add I still have everyone of my Seikos from my AGS (second generation) to the newest the SGG-531. If you are looking for a very good watch for not much in cost I don't think you can beat this watch. It does what it should do gives you accurate dependable time in a simple format, besides I like trains.

In the several years I've owned this watch I've worn it daily under various conditions -- and accidentally dropped it a few times -- but it consistently keeps accurate time to within about a second or better a week (about 3 to 4 seconds per month) and always looks brand new. I love the Railroad style face for its good looks as well as for its clarity. I've had more expensive watches but never had a more reliable watch or one that I liked as well. Incidentally, Seiko quartz watches are more accurate than expensive and prestigious Rolex Certified Chronometers which are guaranteed to only 120 seconds per month.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband after searching for several years to replace the one he broke. It's not easy to find a watch that is easy to read, has numbers from 1-12, the day, the date and a white face. This one has it all.

I bought this watch about 7 months ago. It hasn't lost or gained a minute. Easy to read. And it looks good, too. I think this is the best watch I've had in a long time, if ever. Hope to wear it for years to come.

If you want a simple, ACCURATE and easy-to-read timepiece without the gizmos that abound today, this is it. I have owned this watch for about 18 months, set it via WWV (National Bureau of Standards) from my shortwave radio, and it has NEVER been more than 1/2 second off. It tends to drift about a half second either side of dead on, probably due to the effects of seasonal temperature variations on the quartz crystal timebase. I am simply amazed at it's accuracy.
