Description:
Rock your body during extreme workouts with the extra-large Timex T5F851 Ironman Triathlon multi-function, performance sport digital watch, which features a dark gray resin body and stainless steel top ring and a top pusher for easy access to lap and split times. It's also shock resistant to ISO standards--enabling it to withstand breakage under adverse conditions. It has a number of customizable sport timing features that can be turned on and off, including 100-hour chronograph with lap or split option, 30-lap memory recall, and 24-hour countdown timer with countdown/stop and countdown/repeat functions, three alarms with 5-minute backup, and golf score keeper. Other features include a 5-year battery life, water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet), and a durable nylon Fast Wrap strap (with Velcro fastener). p It incorporates the Timex Flix system, which activates the Indiglo night-light with a simple flick of your wrist. To activate FLIX, put the watch into Night-Mode by pressing and holding the Indiglo night-light button 3 seconds until it beeps. With the watch in Night-Mode, a forward "flick" of the wrist with a sharp "stop" will activate the Indiglo night-light for three seconds. p The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function.

I have been a former G-Shock watch user and I have several in my collection, however I know that Timex has been a great brand of sports watches for many years, so I looked into the new 30-lap Ironman watch. When I received it I was very surprised to see how "beefy" it was as well as being pretty stylish for a sports watch. Its shock resistant body is similar to G-Shock and should be rugged enough to "follow me around". I also need the 2 time zones feature because I travel to China and do business there, so I always know what time it is there, and when I am there I know what time it is here in the central time zone......Right now it is my favorite watch and I am wearing it now!!

I have been looking long and hard for a LARGE, cool-looking sport watch with a fast-wrap (velcro-style) band for a while. Most Timex's are midsize (too small for me and many men of any size) and all Casio G-Shocks that I can find have fastener-style bands. I have 2 G-shocks already and this watch easily competes with those watches (I actually like this watch better). It's THICK, it's got a LARGE face (I believe it's around 41 mm), it's got a nice-looking velcro fast-strap and it looks sharp. As another reviewer said, 'this is a man's watch.' You won't see any ladies wearing this one.

br /Extra pluses:
br /
br /
br /* Metal band (loop) which the strap goes through is large, allowing plenty of room for the strap to go in/out quickly (not getting stuck like some other fast-wrap watches I've owned, which often leads to destroyed bands) - MAJOR improvement here)
br /* Since all of the features can be turned off, I can leave on just the chrono, allowing me to switch only between those the chrono and time when I hit the mode button (rather than having to switch through timer, alarm, golf mode, etc.). this is a very nice customization touch.
br /*It does integrate the Flix technology, so just put the watch in night mode, flick that wrist and on comes the light.

br /If you're looking for a large, thick, solid, good-looking, velcro stap sport watch - STOP. You've found it, and for a good price on Amazon.

I am really happy with this watch. It is much better than my last Ironman and the strap is better than the prior strap. I like the size - it makes it easier to read when working out or running. The indigo light is better than the prior green version.

Great watch. Particularly good if you play racquetball or golf and are looking for a good way to keep your score. I've tried other score keepers and this watch by far has been the best solution. It is set up for golf, but if you back off the score back to zero, it works for racquetball as well. The score per hole only goes up to 15, but this is still the best alternative out there right now for keeping score in racquetball. It would be great if one day someone comes up with a wrist wearing racquetball scorekeeper with the ability to keep up to 3 scores, but for now, this will do.
Awesome for the golf player

I too have always been loyal to Casio G-Shock, and this watch compares easily with them. I bought it for the Golf Score counter, and it works awesome! I love this watch and hope they don't stop making it!

Timex Men's Ironman Triathlon 30-Lap Shock Resistant FLIX System Watch #T5F851
br /Watch was purchased primarily for golf score keeping ability. It is simple for me to operate and flexible. Since I am fairly new I unfortunately have a lot of strokes to record and this watch allows me to go forward/backward add subtract and keep both front and back nine holes, etc. There are other Timex watches with golf score feature but this is only one I found with fabric band: others were resin which I did not want.

This watch face is huge. It stands approximately one half inch deep. When I bend my wrist it digs into my forearm. The "Flix" system is a joke. I have to give my wrist whiplash to get it to light up. Then its hard to see because it has to be pitch black to see Indiglo face. I do like the Velcro band because it is big enough to fit my wrist. Unless you like big bulky watches look elsewhere. Sorry Timex.

Nice watch with all the necessary features. It's comfortable, and I like the band on it (not the cheap plastic type). My only complaint with it is the alarm is way too quiet. I definitely recommend this for a sub-$50 watch.

I bought this watch as a present for a friend deployed to Iraq. He was looking for something rugged that would survive the demands of an infantryman in combat but functional and fashionable enough that he'd want to wear it when he redeployed. He's been pretty happy with this watch with just a few minor reservations.
br /
br /The indiglo stopped working after 6 months. He's going to try and return it for warranty service when he gets back to the US, but is unsure if it'll be covered under the warranty as a defect. This renders it pretty useless as night and is a source of frustration.
br /
br /The watch band scrapes his wrist a bit. He's not particularly small boned, pretty normal build for a guy, but the face of the watch hits his wrist bone in such a way that it has rubbed him raw a few times when he's been wearing it while sweating.
br /
br /He went home on leave and said he received quite a few compliments on the apprearance, so I guess that speaks to the form being pleasant and wearable.
