As I was shopping for a new watch, I had a certain number of criteria in mind.
br /
br /1. It must be affordable
br /2. It must be from a recognized brand (for quality purposes)
br /3. It must be stylish without being too fad-ish
br /4. It must be multi-purpose and lend itself to almost all
br / styles of dress, be it casual or formal.
br /
br /I found all of this in this little Seiko watch. At first, I was setting my sights on a no-battery type of design, but after reading about both kinetic and solar watches...and finding out that both do require replacement of either a lithium ion battery or capacitor, neither of which were guaranteed to last longer than a regular battery operated watch...I decided to stick with the regular quartz.
br /
br /The watch itself looks better than its picture. The dial is listed as white on the website, but it's actually a silver tone...similar to what you see on Rolex brands (which it's supposed to mimic). The gold has a nice shine to it, with particular sparkle coming from the marked hours and the pie-cut bezel around the watch face. There is luminous material on the watch hands and hour markers, but a very minimal amount. My guess is that they didn't want to detract from the shiny finish, but you do lose some ability to see the watch face at night. There's enough to see the watch hands...just barely...but the hours are really hard to make out in the dark. Oh well, if checking the time at night is a real issue then I suggest looking at some Timex Indiglos. ***REVISION*** While it is hard to see the luminous hands and markers at first, they do get brighter once your eyes adjust to the dark. I found myself waking up early this morning and could clearly see all the marked hours and hands of my watch face with no problems.
br /
br /This watch also comes with a day and date calendar. Some have said it's hard to work, but I actually found it to be really easy. The instructions are very easy to follow and I had the calendar and time set up in about 2 minutes.
br /
br /This watch is surprisingly lightweight and very comfortable to wear. The catch opens without breaking any nails off and the band is very roomy. I have a medium to large sized wrist and wear my watch in a slightly loose "bracelet" style, but I still had to get a couple of links taken out.
br /
br /My verdict: a good watch at a good price. It goes with everything in my closet and is from a company that's known for excellence and durablility. Five Stars!
br /
br /P.S. When I wrote this view (a year or two back), it was sold by Amazon and was only 65 dollars with free shipping. So don't think I'm crazy for citing it as "affordable".

Perfect watch for everyday

Extremely reliable, easy to read, looks like the Rolex style, only it is very lightweight. Good for everyday use because you can wear either gold or silver jewelry with this watch. I would have given it 5 stars if it were one of those models which does not need a battery.
br /
br /5/29/07 - This is an update. I give it 5 stars now. I got one of those models that does not need a battery and it is heavy and not sleek like this Seiko women's watch. It is still my all-time favorite watch and will never be without one.

This is a great watch. I like that you can wear both silver and gold with it. I like the fact that it's water proof but I still take it off to go in the shower or in the pool. It often gets mistaken for a Rolex!

I've worn an almost identical Citizen for 10 years so purchased this with no hesitation. It looks lovely, but unfortunately, it does not have the same style clasp as my Citizen. Where my Citizen had a flat clasp that laid snug against my wrist, the Seiko for some reason is made with an extremely bowed inside piece on the clasp. Every time I place my arm on a flat surface (such as when typing this review!), the inside of the clasp digs into my flesh. Really not comfortable and well designed. This is surprising in what I consider a higher-end watch.

This is a really good looking watch. I have a very small wrist, and I was concerned about its being too large and manly looking, but it's perfect. I did have to have seven links removed for it to fit as I prefer, but that's to be expected. The watch is lightweight, very comfortable, and looks appropriate with both casual and more dressy outfits. I think it's a great buy for the money.
My wife is delighted.

Was very glad to get this watch. It's attractive and isn't "too busy" with all sorts of useless functions. I love the day of the week and date feature. The minute hand is a plus, too. My only fault with it, is that it's a bit hard to snap the bands clasp in place. Finally, I figured out that I just had to make sure I took more time aligning the two snap over metal ends, and all is well. Highly recommend this watch as a step above sport watches, but not over laden with a lot of features one might never use.The stainless steel body will assure that it stays attractive, too. I saved even more money than current price of $138.00, here on Amazon.

Very poorly designed clasp which is bulky and dificult to open Had to travel over 100 miles to locate a dealer to install additional links and was charged in excess of $30.00 for this adjustment I would NOT recomend this watch or purchase a SEIKO again,Purchased a Citizen watch which has a much better clasp and also better dealer network and service BUY A CITIZEN and you will be satisfied with your purchase

Seiko makes outstanding watches for reasonable prices. This ladies watch is very attractive and quite reasonably priced. It even looks like a Rolex. But it's much more accurate than most Rolex watches which are far more expensive. Though finely built, and very expensive, most Rolex watches have mechanical movements guaranteed to an accuracy of only 2 minutes (120 seconds) per month. This Seiko watch is also finely built and its quartz movement gives it an accuracy of 15 seconds per month or better -- 8 times more accurate than most Rolexes. Beauty, accuracy, and dependability at a reasonable price make this Seiko watch a winner.

I had a watch just like the one I bought on Amazon, but I lost it. I did a lot of research trying to find the same watch, and Amazon had the best price. I was so pleased I was able to replace it at such a low price. It was a pleasure ordering from Amazon!!

This watch was to replace an almost exact style of a Seiko that I had for years. I am very happy with my purchase and felt it was a good buy. I did have to pay to have it resized, but still felt I received a quality piece.

I had one exactly like this one for over 20 years, but finally the crown fell off. I am keeping it for a backup as it is still running just fine.
br /I expect the same quality of my new Seiko. I highly recommend this model. Easy to read dial (especially the white face) and also a fine looking piece of jewelry.

No doubt this watch is good value for the money but it looked too large on my wrist. It would help to have actual dimensions of the face and band width.

The Seiko Watch is a great investment and looks wonderful on my Wife. She had one many years ago and was very happy to get this brand new Watch.
br /As usual Amazon.com came through with the best price and the fastest delivery.
br /Just be prepared to have the watch band adjusted. The size it comes with will be way to large for most Woman.

I just love this watch. It is lightweight and goes with everything. I needed a watch that showed the day of the week and not just the date--I am retired and need a reminder of which day it is--every day is a weekend now. I have very small wrists and this watch had enough removable links to fit me. The clasp required some getting used to but now I can close it with no trouble. I have purchased several Seiko watches in the past--I like this one the best.

This is one tough watch. I gave the same watch to my wife 16 years ago. So when it finally gave out, I bought another Seiko just like the old one. This is one of few ladies watches that has Day and Date. The looks are classic Seiko. My wife loves me and new Seiko.

Overall, if I was searching for a woman's watch again, I would likely purchase this watch again. This watch was a good value.
br /
br /Details: I purchased this watch for my wife's birthday. Being a man, I, of course, waited until just before her birthday before ordering it. I received the watch within the committed deliver time (two days). No issues there.
br /
br /The watch itself is quite elegant; the pictures on the Amazon site do a good job showing what you'll get. My wife liked it. (This was the overriding goal here.)
br /
br /
br /The band is one of those clasp-style bands that is a fixed length. It, as expected, required resizing to fit my wife's wrist correctly. That was a bit of a challenge, but a paper clip and a pair of pliers (to hold the paper clip, not the watch) took care of that in short order (look for the little arrows stamped in the links on the band for the removable links). The alternative, of course, to take it to a jeweler.
br /
br /The one demerit is that the watch doesn't have a built-in light, a la the Timex Indiglo technology, so telling the time in a theatre (for example) is a bit difficult.

I see copies of this watch all over, so must be a popular style. The time is large enough to read easily, but I have to really squint to read the date.
br /It keeps good time and is comfortable to wear. To replace the battery, you need to go to a jewelry store as it requires a special tool. Walmart and Sam's Club couldn't replace the battery, as the back does not just snap open.

Nice looking watch, but unfortunately it did not come with an expansion band. My Sweetie wanted an expansion band. I did notice that the calendar was difficult to adjust, I had to read the manual for that to happen. A watch this simple should be more user friendly in setting. Unfortunately I had to return it, I have not found a replacement that looks as nice that has an expansion band.
